From via Infante do Sagres to Alvor and Alvor Holidays

The main road that crosses the Algarve , the via Infante do Sagres (A22) is the best route into Alvor. The roads from Spain, Faro Airport and Lisbon all join this road. Junction 4 is signposted as Alvor.

Take junction 4 from the A22 (via Infante do Sagres), following the signs for Alvor. There are 2 roundabouts to negaotiate, again follow the signs for Alvor. Keep goping straight down this road, which may seem a little narrow. After you go past the aerodrome the road forks, take the left fork going up a slight hill through Montes de Alvor. Keep going straight on. As you come into Alvor, down a slight hill with terraced cottages on the right, there is another fork. The right is a No Entry, follow the road around to the left up a hill and down the other side. This brings you to a roundabout, turn left and exit under the Palm trees and passed the Ali Super supermarket. Keep going straight, under a footbridge, passed a Repsol petrol station.

On the left you will see a sign for the Oxico restaurant, turn left just before the restaurant. This is Mar e Serra. Follow the road and take the second left. Lote 3 is at the very bottom, straight ahead of you.

From Faro airport to the via Infante do Sagres

When leaving the airport stay in the right hand lane signposted for Faro unless you need petrol. This then joins a new stretch of road. If you need petrol move into the left hand lane and use the petrol station on the roundabout. From here you need to follow the signs for Portimo. After a couple of minutes, just after the large Ford dealership on the left, you take an exit to Portim o. This takes you onto a slip road which has a Give Way on your approach. A bit awkward for the first time. Join the slip road which then joins the main dual carriageway. There are a number of sets of traffic lights here. Carry on down the dual carriageway, and watch out for a Metalofarense warehouse and a Mercedes dealership on your left. Just after that point you will need to ensure that you are in the left hand lane as the road splits. Still heading for Portimo. When you see the new Football stadium (for 2004) on the right prepare to take another exit after about 1km, still Portim o. This takes you onto the main cross Algarve road, the via Infante de Sagres. Once on there you can settle for a bit, about 55 km, speedlimit here 120 kph.
