About Alvor and the surrounding area
Alvor is located to the west of Portimo, about 60km from Faro airport. It is a small fishing village that has expanded well with the number of tourists that wish to visit it. Well served with many restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops it offers different atmospheres for different people and it is easy to see its attractions. Many local places are open all year round, making winter breaks as enjoyable as the summer season.
These holiday apartments are located 20 minutes walk from Alvor in the quiet location of Mar e Serra. They are on the 8th floor of a modern apartment complex that was completed in 2002, with lift access and plentiful parking. The balconies provide views of the sea and local areas.
There are many beaches in the area and Alvor Beach, one of the best in the Algarve, is the nearest beach to the apartments. There are sun beds for hire and beach restaurants and cafes to help you enjoy the sea and sun.
Golf, one of the major attractions in the Algarve is always close by. Within easy distance of the apartments are the courses of Alto Club, Penina, Morgado do Reguengo, Boa Vista and Palmares, Parque de Floresta, Vale de Milho e Pestana Golf, Gramacho and Pinta courses. There are a further 17 courses in the Algarve. The range of golf courses around the Algarve is immense; beginners through to professionals are all well catered for.
There are other sports and activities in the area including tennis, horse riding, micro-light flying and a full range of water based activities. For a slower pace of life there is a wide variety of plant and bird life in the protected areas; these are often best seen in the winter and spring.
In general, Algarve has a mild climate, good beaches, reasonably priced cafes and restaurants, breathtaking scenery, friendly local people (many of whom speak excellent English) and a large variety of golf courses. These all combine to make a memorable holiday.
